Oil below $ 100 a barrel

Losses in the energy sector helped drive Canada’s main index down in the afternoon, as oil prices fell below US $ 100 a barrel, while US stock markets they were mixed.
The S & P / TSX composite index fell 28.30 points to 18,788.50.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average rose 124.59 points to 31,298.43. The S&P 500 index rose 5.48 points to 3,859.91, while the Nasdaq compound fell 6.48 points to 11,366.12.
The Canadian dollar was trading at 76.91 U.S. cents compared to 76.92 U.S. cents on Tuesday.
The August crude contract fell $ 7.70 to $ 96.39 a barrel and the August natural gas contract fell 11 cents to $ 6.31 per mmBTU.
The August gold contract fell US $ 1.70 to $ 1,730.00 per ounce and the September copper contract fell 12 cents to $ 3.32 a pound.
