On Tuesday, Dell listed the UltraSharp U3223QZ monitor for $ 1,600. The display wants to justify its price with a generous 32-inch IPS panel that claims twice the contrast of typical IPS monitors, a built-in 4K webcam and 4K resolution. The four-digit asking price, along with the built-in camera, USB-C connectivity and sleek finish accompanied it with Apple’s 27-inch 5K studio display. Both monitors offer unique options for people on larger budgets looking for high picture quality, especially Mac owners. But despite the identical price tags, their best audiences differ significantly.
Specifications Dell UltraSharp U3223QZ and Apple Studio Display
While it attracts Windows users with ultra-light computers with USB-C power connections, Dell’s line of UltraSharp monitors is also popular with Mac owners because of the USB-C (PD) power delivery, a elegant silver color and thin bezels that complement the aesthetics of Apple.
But a quick overview of the specifications of the two monitors already offers an overview of the different experiences you can expect from the $ 1,600 screens (note that all specifications are manufacturer’s claims):

The study screen of conference monitors?
When you listen to “Studio Display”, there are many possibilities that you also think about 5K. After all, it is the most promoted feature of Apple’s monitor. In contrast, the U3223QZ with its 4K resolution has a built-in webcam as the main attribute, among other features, for video streaming or frequent conferencing.

U3223QZ vs. Studio Display webcam
The U3223QZ has a 4K webcam that supports up to 4K video recording at 30 frames per second (fps). It is equipped with a Sony Starvis CMOS sensor and has AI power features, such as auto-frame and the ability to adjust color to cope with “hard lighting,” as Dell puts it. It also uses 3D and 2D video noise reduction to combat motion blur, though we should try it in person to see the effectiveness. You can also set the camera to start or close automatically using Windows Hello, depending on whether it detects your presence.

The built-in webcam means you don’t have to sacrifice port or bevel space, and it’s adjustable. You can tilt it from 0 to 20 degrees for a field of view of 65, 78, or 90 degrees, depending on Dell. The webcam also has a physical shutter that is said to work in video conferencing applications, but we won’t know if it’s reliable until we test it.
Finally, Dell offers its device manager application (Windows 10 and later) to adjust the webcam image.
