Samsung lowers the foldable shipping target for 2023

Samsung plans to ship 15 million units of the Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 series this year, but a much more conservative target has been set for next year’s model.

Samsung’s fourth-generation folding will be the most produced and shipped in the series to date, but the worrying outlook for smartphone sales and the uncertainties of the economy that is expected to flow next year have led the company to reduce its production in 2023.

Samsung aims to ship 10 million units of Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Interestingly, the Z Flip 5 will account for 8 million units, while the Z Fold 5 will only account for 2 million.

Both phones will carry Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (SM8550) application processor, which is made with TSMC’s 4 nm node.

Of course, since the Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 have not yet been released, that number is likely to change, especially if the market holds.
