Season 3 of ‘Bridgerton’ adds new cast members when production begins

Season 3 of “Bridgerton” has added three new cast members as production begins on the upcoming installment of Netflix’s vintage drama.

Daniel Francis, Sam Phillips and James Phoon have signed on for the new season, which will focus on the love story of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

Francis (“Stay Close”) plays Marcus Anderson, described as a charismatic presence that illuminates any room he enters, attracting the attention of certain matriarchs of the ton, and the anger of others.

Phillips (“The Crown”) plays Lord Debling. A brilliant gentleman with unusual interests, he has a wealth and a noble title to endorse his eccentricities. This season he will not miss the interest of the girls.

Phoon (“Wreck”) plays Harry Dankworth. What Dankworth lacks in wit and intelligence makes up for it with a good serious appearance.

In Season 3, Penelope has finally given up on falling in love with Colin after hearing her derogatory words about her last season. However, she has decided it is time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts at the marriage market fail dramatically.

Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of arrogance. But he is discouraged to realize that Penelope, the only person who has ever appreciated him as he was, is giving him a cold shoulder. Eager to regain her friendship, Colin offers herself to Penelope’s Mentor on the paths of trust to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start to work a little too well, Colin has to struggle to see if his feelings for Penelope are really kind. Complicating things for Penelope is her breakup with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it even harder to keep secret. her Lady Whistledown alter ego.

It was previously announced that Chris Van Dusen would resign as showrunner after season 2, with Jess Brownell as showrunner and executive producer for season 3. Van Dusen continues to work as executive producer alongside Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Tom Verica. of Shondaland.
