Fabrizio Romano has given us the latest news on Barcelona’s latest attempt to hijack Chelsea’s agreement to sign Leeds United striker Raphinha.
At the moment, it is almost certain that Brazilian international Raphinha will leave Elland Road this summer, having been Leeds’ best and most important player, as he avoided relegation last season.
The 25-year-old was closely followed by Liverpool, who have since moved on to other goals, while this summer there is great interest from Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Barcelona.
Last week, Arsenal turned down an offer and at the moment Chelsea are expected to sign Raphinha after agreeing a £ 65million deal with Leeds. Raphinha has yet to accept personal terms, however.
Barcelona is believed to be Raphinha’s favorite destination, and the League giants are said to be working on a package that will caress Chelsea for the Brazilian international.
Barcelona has a lot of publicity financial problems, but earlier this week it received a major cash injection of £ 178 million by selling 10% of the club’s LaLiga television rights to Sixth Street.
“Chelsea and Leeds reached an agreement, a full deal between the club’s two presidents, Todd Boehly and Andrea Radrizzani,” Romano explained in a previous YouTube update.
“It’s a deal for £ 60-65 million. But there is still no deal with the player. Chelsea will have to negotiate a deal with Raphinha and his agent, Deco.
“Deco was in Barcelona on Wednesday morning to meet with Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona,” he continued.
“He has a special relationship with Laporta and, therefore, Barcelona has had a personal agreement with Raphinha since the end of February.”
Romano has since explained that Barcelona have made an official offer for Raphinha, who was sent on Tuesday evening, but that they have not been able to match Chelsea’s offer between 60 and 65 million pounds. Leeds have turned down the offer.
“Leeds has received an official, written proposal from Barcelona,” said the Italian guru of the milestone.
“Leeds decided to reject it. They are not happy with their proposal. They do not accept the conditions. They want much more than what Barcelona offers.
“Let me clarify, boys; it’s not just about the amount that Barcelona offers. But so are the terms of payment. Barcelona and Chelsea made different proposals. I am told that Chelsea offered £ 60 million (supplements included), but that he paid in a very short time.
“Chelsea are willing to pay, immediately, the main part of the fee negotiation.”
