The 2022 federal election revealed a significant shift in voter behavior when Scott Morrison’s coalition government was ousted from power.
Polling stations across the country offered historically low primary votes for major parties as independents and the Greens emerged as compelling alternatives.
Anthony Albanese Labor elected several marginal and Liberal seats on the path to a narrow majority, while Green Green independents stole a march against moderate Liberals in wealthy metropolitan constituencies.
At the cabinet level, the data show strong fluctuations against the main parties in the previous election results, even the 2019 poll, forming an image of the strong desire for change in the electorate.
Significant changes in primary voting can be seen in the Mackellar booths in Sydney and Kooyong in Melbourne, until the Labor victory in Western Australia and the green wave in downtown Brisbane.
