Several officers shot dead in a situation east of Ky .; suspect in prison

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) – Law enforcement officers remained at the scene Friday morning of a deadly shooting situation in Allen involving several victims from different agencies, Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt said .

He said several officers have been transferred to different hospitals. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department posted Friday morning on social media that the incident was fatal. The number of people involved who died is unknown.

Sheriff Hunt said deputies were trying to comply with a court order issued when the incident began Thursday evening. At 9:30 p.m., he said the suspect was still barricaded. At a news conference during our 11 p.m. news release, Kentucky state police reported that the suspect was under arrest.

The sheriff said the suspect opened fire when officers responded. KSP said the incident started around 6 p.m.

This area of ​​Allen, located near the junction of US 23 and State Route 1428, is closed for miles around. On Thursday night, the sheriff said he was expecting a peaceful solution to the situation.
