The shooting took place on Sunday (Monday AEST) in the vicinity of Field’s, a shopping center in the Danish capital, police said earlier.
Images on social media showed people running through the mall and law enforcement officers heavily armed at the scene.
At least three people have been hospitalized, according to a spokesman for Rigshospitalet, the largest hospital in Denmark.
Additional staff have also been called in to deal with the emergency, the spokesman said.
