The Kelowna RCMP is looking for a 20-year-old man believed to be responsible for a sexual assault in the Rutland area earlier this week.

Police say the incident happened between 12:20 and 1:20 p.m. Monday while a woman was walking along Springfield Road and Hollywood Road South.

According to her statement, the woman was followed by a man who forced her down Hollywood Road South to Mission Creek where he sexually assaulted her.

The woman suffered injuries that did not endanger her life.

The suspect is described as a 20-year-old South Asian man with black hair, a well-groomed beard and a partially shaved right eyebrow.

He was wearing a black zipped jacket, a white T-shirt, and green silk trousers.

“Investigators from the Sexual Offenses Unit of the Kelowna RCMP are actively investigating the area for video surveillance in an effort to identify and locate the suspect,” Cpl said. Tim Russell of the Vulnerable People Section.
