The Basic Instinct actress has spoken bravely on the subject for the first time.
Sharon Stone has bravely spoken of suffering nine miscarriages.
The 64-year-old Basic Instinct star recounted her experience with the loss of babies in a heartbreaking post on Instagram.
“We, as women, don’t have a forum to discuss the depth of this loss. I lost nine children to miscarriage,” Stone said.
“It’s not a small thing, neither physically nor emotionally. However, they make us feel that it is something that needs to be endured alone and in secret with some kind of sense of failure. Instead of receiving the much needed compassion, empathy and healing we so desperately need.
“Women’s health and well-being left in the care of male ideology have become, at best, lax, de facto ignorant and violently oppressive in the effort.”
Stone has three adopted children, Roan, 22, Laird, 16, and Quinn, 15.
She was approved to adopt her eldest son while returning home after a miscarriage.
Last year Stone spoke of the agony of going through “36 hours of childbirth” after losing a baby at five-and-a-half months pregnant.
She told BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour that it was a “devastating experience”.
“When I lost my last baby and then I went back to the hospital and had 36 hours of labor on my own to of course not give birth to anything, and the nurses who had been in the hospital with me two days before when they took me out the last baby came in and sat with me on his day off.
“I really felt such a strong sense of brotherhood and understanding. Because I would have been alone. And that’s such a lonely feeling anyway.”
Stone previously said she had several miscarriages while she was married to Phil Bronstein, whom she divorced in 2004.
In 2021, Stone revealed that he lost his nephew River. The 11-month-old boy was found in his crib with total organic failure.
“William Stone River. September 8, 2020 – August 30, 2021,” the actress shared on Twitter.
He accompanied the in-memoriam with a one-minute video showing the happy boy smiling, laughing and moving playfully.
Earlier, Stone posted on Instagram that River, who was also the actress ’godson, needed“ a miracle ”to get ahead.
“My nephew and godson River Stone was found in his crib with a total organ failure today. Please pray for him. We need a miracle,” River subtitled an Instagram post at the hospital with devices connected to it.
This family tragedy came after Stone lost his grandmother and godmother to the coronavirus in 2020, which also affected other members of his family.
