Silverchair leader Daniel Johns escapes from prison on charges of drunk driving

He exceeded three times the legal alcohol limit when he drove on the wrong side of the Pacific Highway in North Arm Cove before crashing into a van and injuring two people.

Johns was sentenced Wednesday to 10 months and is allowed to serve time in the community under an order of intensive corrections.

He must participate in a rehabilitation program and refrain from drinking alcohol.

Johns’ license has been disabled for seven months.
