A source told MailOnline: “Tom Jones collapsed, so his gig has been canceled tonight and medics have been called to the stadium. His management have set August 16 as to a new date of the concert.’
But rubbishing the reports, Tom released a statement via Instagram, insisting “I didn’t collapse”.
He told his 452,000 followers: “Hello everyone interested.” I traveled from the UK to Budapest last night and woke up this morning with a sore throat.
A specialist came to visit and diagnosed him with “viral laryngitis”. He strongly advised postponing tonight’s show and prescribed medication and vocal rest.
He added: “I didn’t ‘collapse’ anywhere at any point, that’s pure rumour. Hopefully the swelling will go down soon as I’m looking forward to continuing my wonderful summer tour.”
“Unfortunately, the show had to be canceled at the last minute, and for that I am very sorry. However, the Budapest show has been rescheduled and will take place on the 16th of August. Thanks again for all your kind concern.’
