“Sister Wives” star Leon Brown came out as a transgender on Tuesday in a heartfelt post shared on Instagram.
“Here I am, I definitely don’t have almost any of my stuff, to let you know I’m trans,” the 26-year-old reality star captioned in a slide show.
“My name is Leon or Leo (I love both of them) and my pronouns are them,” the TLC personality continued. “I’m finally ready to share my favorite self with the world. And this self is incredibly genderqueer, trans and apologetic.”
Leon noted that they were “quite young” when they knew they did not identify as a girl.
“Unfortunately, I grew up in an incredibly gendered and restrictive context,” the Utah resident added. “So I continued to socialize as a girl and then as a woman.”

Leon concluded that his post on social media was aimed at setting “boundaries” with his followers.
“If you choose not to use my correct name or pronouns, you don’t need to talk to me or about me,” they explained. “My name is Leo or Leon, and my pronouns are them. Please just refer to me this way “.

The revelation marked the program manager’s first Instagram upload since June 2021, when they championed transgender athletes.
“I’m with trans athletes,” Leon wrote at the time. “I’m with trans boys. Let trans boys, and especially trans girls, do sports! Trans boys belong, always.”

Leon is the only child of Meri Brown and Kody Brown. While her father, who has 17 more children with three more women, has yet to react to the Instagram announcement, Meri shared Leon’s post on her story Tuesday.
“You are my sun,” the 51-year-old wrote.
Leon is in a relationship with Audrey Kriss and the couple got engaged in 2019 after two years of dating.
Kriss came out as a transgender in December 2021. “I just wanted to let you know that I’m transgender and that my pronouns are them / them. I’m still going through Audrey,” they wrote at the time via Instagram .
“I don’t want to make all this sad because I’m VERY happy to be me!” continued the graphic designer. “Being fully myself lately has given me a lot of joy. For the first time I look at my body and feel free. I’m starting to feel more at home, more ME. I love being trans and I love being queer “.
