Sky Ferreira’s highly anticipated sophomore album Masochism hasn’t arrived yet, but the high-pop singer is giving fans a taste of what’s to come with “Don’t Forget,” her first single since 2019. The synth-driven track, co-written with Tamaryn and co-produced. with regular contributor Jorge Elbrecht, it sounds lighter and more pop than the previous single “Downhill Lullaby”, but Ferreira’s edge has not gone away, as he sings about wanting revenge on those who did it mal.
In a chat with VoltorFerreira talks about the song, explaining: “It wasn’t supposed to be apocalyptic, but somehow it is. I saw fire, and I also saw a place between heaven and hell, that kind of atmosphere. But not in a biblical sense. I felt very suffocated for a long time, and I still have it. ”
He adds: “It’s not that I want to burn people’s houses or anything like that; it’s a little more symbolic. It’s about putting myself in these situations for a long time. It’s a bit like freeing myself, but not in “Because I don’t feel free, necessarily. I’m still not trying to throw everyone under the bus. Because that’s what happens. turning into a narrative? Then my whole record becomes that. In my mind it’s like, you can’t do that to me. ”
