Snap is working on a paid subscription called Snapchat Plus

Snap is conducting internal testing of a paid subscription called Snapchat Plus, which will apparently give users early access to features as well as other skills. In a statement to The Verge, Snap spokeswoman Liz Markman said:

We’re testing early internal testing of Snapchat Plus, a new subscription service for Snapchat users. We’re excited about the potential to share unique, experimental, and pre-existing features with our subscribers and learn more about how we can best serve our community.

According to screenshots and information posted on Twitter by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, Snap is also testing other features for Snapchat Plus, including the ability to set one of your friends as your “BFF number 1” (which sounds as a recipe for drama: MySpace). was the first eight for a reason), change the Snapchat icon and see who looks at your stories again. Paluzzi also shows that the price of Snapchat Plus is currently 4.59 euros per month and 45.99 euros per year (around $ 4.84 and $ 48.50, respectively). Of course, at this stage can only be placeholder prices.

Snap is far from the only social network or messaging platform working on a pay-per-view platform: Telegram has confirmed that it is also working on a premium subscription, which will be released later this month, and Twitter has launched its service Blue late last year.

After Apple introduced a privacy feature for ads with iOS 14.5, which allows users to turn off ad-by-app ad tracking, many free apps have had to reconsider how they make money. Snapchat in particular cited the changes to iOS as the reason for the lost revenue targets and said it will slow hiring this year.
