Soap actress Robyn Griggs dies aged 49 after battle with cancer

Robyn Griggs, a TV and film star known for her roles in soap operas Another World and One Life To Live, has died aged 49 after losing her battle with cervical cancer.

The star’s official Facebook account announced the sad news in a statement over the weekend.

“Hello everyone, it is with a heavy heart that I am saddened to announce the passing of Robyn,” the post began.

His account also shared some recent photos of Griggs, visibly ill but smiling. Page Six reports

“However, she is no longer in pain and would want us to remember that and the good memories. I will never forget how open she was to telling her story and accepting that I would help her tell it.

“I wanted to help people and spread their story to do that. I was honored to do that. RIP my friend, I love you and smile when I think of you.

Griggs, who married golf pro Mark Wiley in 2013, has been very transparent with friends and fans when it comes to her health issues, having been diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer in 2020 and as recently as last month she revealed that she had developed four new tumors.

“I have four new tumors. Two new tumors in my liver, one in my abdominal muscle and a large lymph node on my right side,” Griggs posted on his account on July 7. “So in pain and going to chemo Monday morning. I told them whatever it takes, I’m ready to fight.”

The story also confirms that on August 11, just two days before her death, the actress moved to a hospital.

“She has fought with determination, strength and grace that is nothing short of inspiring. Please continue to keep Robyn and her family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.”

Griggs played Stephanie Hobart A Life To Live in a total of six episodes in 1991. She continued to portray Maggie Cory another world for two years.

He later starred in films like 2003 Serious injuries and the 2010s Hellweek.
