Another alleged prototype of Google Pixel 7 has appeared, this time from a Reddit user who says he bought it on Facebook Marketplace. Apparently, it’s a Pixel 7 Pro, which according to Redditor AMC20_ was listed as a Pixel 6 Pro without a box. In fact, it is not a Pixel 6 Pro.
Google phones have a long history of unusual leaks, but even by Pixel standards, this is weird. This is also the second time a Pixel 7 Pro prototype has appeared in the last week. In case you missed episode one of this saga, someone listed a prototype of Pixel 7 on eBay. As Android expert Mishaal Rahman pointed out, the photos appear to have been taken with another prototype unit: a Pixel 7 Pro, which can be seen in the reflection of the phone’s bright back panel. The person who bought the 7 Pro prototype on Facebook thinks that his phone is the same one used to take these photos.

Google previously announced the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro at its I / O conference last month, revealing what the devices will look like and … not much else. It is very likely that they will make their formal debut in October with Android 13. These alleged prototypes have not shed much more light on what we can expect from phones, just a confirmation that it is using a modem other than the Pixel 6 series and which seems to come in a variant with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM.
We probably won’t be able to learn much more. The buyer of the alleged prototype said the phone had worked fine until a few days ago when it appears to have been removed remotely. Not surprisingly, if this is a genuine article, Google would have a safeguard like this in case the phone goes missing. But given the trajectory of the Pixel series, it probably won’t be long before we see another leak.
