In clear conditions, you can see several meteor showers a year.
But there is some uncertainty around one for tonight, but if it happens, the backyard astronomer says it will be a spectacular sight.
“It’s not like regular meteor showers every year, like the Perseids. It’s called Hercules Tau and it’s really from a comet that broke in 1995. It is suspected that it could be passing through this cloud of rubble. these particles that have broken. It could produce more than a thousand meteors per hour or it could produce zero. ” Gary Boyle told us.
Projections on its sustainability are only half an hour to an hour, “These are only projections because this cloud of comet debris is moving through space and its orbits are being changed by other planets. “Sure, it won’t be an all – night event, but it really will be something to see.”
The Tau Heculids can be seen in clear skies around 11:00 PM Eastern time.
