A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious and non-life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle accident on Saturday.

At around 5:30 pm, a motorcyclist was heading west on Stoney Trail NE trying to enter the North Deerfoot Trail.

According to police, the driver lost control, drove on a grassy walkway and crashed his bicycle into the grass on the other side of an adjacent ramp.

Sgt. Steve Campbell, of the traffic section of the Calgary Police Service, said CTV News investigators believe speed and alcohol were factors in the collision.
