Star Wars: Ewan McGregor Sick for Online Racism Against Co-Star Moses Ingram

Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor has said he was “sick” that people had sent harassment and racist messages to co-star Moses Ingram.

The American actress, who is black, revealed that she has received “hundreds” of racist comments since the show premiered last Friday.

He posted screenshots in his Instagram story, including one that said “days are numbered” and another that called it “diversity rental.”

McGregor said those who sent harassment messages were not true Star Wars fans and said “we’re with Moses.”

He tweeted, “Moses is a brilliant actor. She’s a brilliant woman. And she’s absolutely amazing in this series. She contributes so much to the series, to the franchise. And it hurt my stomach. I feel like this had happened.

“I just want to say, as the main actor in the series, as the executive producer of the series, that we’re with Moses. We love Moses.

“And if you send him messages of harassment, you’re not a Star Wars fan in my head. There’s no place for racism in this world. And I’m totally with Moses.”

Star Wars’ Twitter account was also behind Ingram, saying: “We are proud to welcome Moses Ingram to the Star Wars family and excited to see Reva’s story unfold.

“It simply came to our notice then.

“There are more than 20 million sensitive species in the Star Wars galaxy. Don’t choose to be racist.”

The actress received “hundreds” of hate messages

It comes after Ingram told his followers that he had been sent “hundreds” of hate messages.

She said: “I wonder what my purpose is, even to be here in front of you saying this is happening.

“I think what bothers me is this feeling that I’ve had inside me, that no one has told me, but I just have to shut up and endure it, and I’m not built that way.”

He also thanked those who supported him in the comments, adding that his support “means the world.”

Ingram added: “So I really wanted to come, I think, and thank the people who come forward for me in the comments and places I won’t post.

“And to the rest of you: you’re weird.”

Ingram plays the third sister, Reva Sevander, who chases after McGregor’s Kenobi after Darth Vader assigns him the mission in the Disney + series.

Sky News has contacted Disney + for comment.
