Starfield director Todd Howard has shared that Starfield’s main story “ends a little longer” than previous Bethesda games, and players can expect it to take 30 to 40 hours to complete.
Speaking to IGN, Howard said that currently, Starfield’s main story is “to finish a little longer.” [than previous Bethesda games] and we can tune in to some still […] they are more missions, so it could be 20 percent more than our previous ones. “
Howard added that while mileage will vary between players, the hours it will take to complete Starfield’s main story “could be in the 30s, maybe 40s.”
During last week’s Xbox and Bethesda presentation, details about Starfield’s main story remained vague, but it will involve joining a group of explorers seeking to answer the mysteries of the universe and explore the origins of ‘an alien artifact.
The images Howard presented Sunday (June 12th) also revealed that Starfield will offer Bethesda’s “most flexible character creation to date” and players will be able to build and customize their own spaceship.
Towards the end of the event, Howard also revealed that players will be able to visit and explore more than 1000 planets.
After the showcase, Bethesda announced that the Starfield star will remain silent, a difference from the company’s choice to add the voice to the main character of Fallout 4.

In addition to Starfield, Howard has been looking a little further into the future of Bethesda and has shared that Fallout 5 will be released after the release of The Elder Scrolls 6.
This means that Fallout fans may have to wait a while before getting another game, as The Elder Scrolls 6 is still in pre-production.
“They take a while, I’d like them to come out faster, I really do, we’re trying as hard as we can, but we want them to be the best they can be for everyone,” Howard said.
