Bethesda unveiled the first Starfield game during Microsoft’s Xbox 2022 and Bethesda Showcase on Sunday, and now includes filming, exploring, and selecting locks in space. One thing he didn’t show was that he was talking about the main character in the game. Many gamers wondered if this meant that the player’s character would be the usual silent protagonist of Bethesda, or if he could be more like the voice protagonist of Fallout 4.
On Monday, Bethesda confirmed on Twitter that the player’s character would have no voice and that the game’s conversation would be in the first person.
This means that Fallout 4, which was released in 2015, will end up being the exception and not the new rule for role-playing games at Bethesda Game Studios. Prior to Fallout 4, Bethesda role-playing games such as The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and Fallout 3 featured silent main characters. Many fans did not like the change to a character with a voice in Fallout 4; Bethesda Game Studios seems to agree.
Starfield’s Xbox and Bethesda Showcase presentation also included new information on spacecraft customization, interstellar battles, and thousands of game planets for gamers to explore. Starfield will be released in 2023.
