SteamOS 3.2 update adds refresh rate settings, quieter fan curve to Steam Deck comments

Fearghast, 2 hours ago It won’t be, and luckily for Valve it doesn’t have to be. It’s very good, … moreThe Nintendo Switch has sold more units than the combined sales of: Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X. So I wouldn’t call it a niche.

The Nintendo Switch hardware and specs are supercharged with the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U. But it had little power against the XB1 and PS4. At least when we look at it as a home console. As a handheld console, it was a pretty good boost over the capabilities of the PS Vita and the ridiculous new-3DS.

The Valve Steam Deck is very supercharged when viewed through the lens of a handheld console. If you look at it as a home console, it’s almost like the PS4 Pro. Therefore, it has little power compared to the Xbox S series.

The reason I say this is because of the context. The Valve Steam Deck is definitely cheaper than the Nintendo Switch (free online, cheaper games, more titles). He is more capable. And the hardware is much more competitive than the Nintendo Switch. So it seems pretty immature to call it a failure, when you have so many things in your favor. It basically crashed another company (GPD), and the AYA Neo is very obsolete and has generated a new wave of competition the size of Retroid and AYN Loki.

I’m still not sure if I should buy one. I think I’ll wait for the second iteration.

This is the fan curve upgrade is a literal sending of God. In slow motion at low load, it is very quiet. Considering the refresh rate settings, Digital Foundry made a very good video explaining this topic in terms of battery life and input delay.

you have to suffer, 6 hours ago refresh rate of 40 hz ??? but why he says it literally there, to save energy. If you’re playing Civilization or I don’t know, Anno, you don’t particularly care about the refresh rate if you can extend the playing time.

you have to suffer, 6 hours ago refresh rate of 40 hz ??? but why, as it is faster than 30 FPS and more battery efficient than 60 FPS and also a midpoint for games that cannot keep 60 FPS stable. But this is very old news. Digital Foundry tested these features on YouTube two weeks ago …
