Police have filed charges against a 41-year-old man who allegedly stole a hovercraft from a Goldfields airfield.
The strange chain of events that led to the robbery of the hovercraft culminated on Sunday when Merredin police found the hovercraft at a house in the town of Wheatbelt, about 300 miles away.

“It’s certainly not something that happens every day,” Merredin police acting sergeant major Andy Galbraith said.
“It’s not something you see driving down the street every day.”
Police will allege that the airliner, along with a trailer, was stolen from Goldfields airfield between June 27 and July 3.
Acting senior sergeant Galbraith said the owner, who typically uses the airfield to move through the salt lakes in the Coolgardie area, posted information about the robbery on Facebook that helped police a lot.
“We received information through Crime Stoppers that could be at a Merredin address and on Sunday we executed a search warrant and were able to recover both the airfoil and the trailer in its original state, which is a great result.” , he said. dit.
Merredin’s 41-year-old man has been charged with two counts of theft in connection with the robbery.
He will face court in Kalgoorlie on July 25.
