A yellow storm warning has been issued for tomorrow, and storms are expected to cause sudden flooding in some areas. The Met Office notice covers Leicestershire and many other parts of England from Leeds in the north to the south coast.
The notice covers London, where the outdoor platinum jubilee pageant is to take place, and could disrupt street party plans across the country tomorrow. The warning says: “Storms that occur in parts of England and Wales from early Sunday can cause travel disruptions and, in some places, flooding.”
Street parties and big jubilee lunches will be held tomorrow in the UK, with coverage of the Platinum Jubilee on BBC One, starting at 1pm, to visit community celebrations across the country on the afternoon of Sunday. Starting at 2.30pm, the Jubilee Pageant will be held in central London, with a two-mile-long carnival procession with a crowd of thousands passing through the heart of the city to Buckingham Palace.
