The RCMP is investigating a child abduction in Strathmore, Alta.
Officers said it happened on Tuesday, May 31, when a girl was walking home from the school bus descent around 3:30 p.m.
The young man was approached by two men in a white van and was forced into the vehicle and taken to a residence, the RCMP said.
Since then, the girl has returned home healthy.
“While at this residence, the young woman was able to escape and flee the area and was later found by a relative who alerted police,” the sergeant said. Mark Wielgosz with Strathmore RCMP said.
The girl was found at around 5.30pm by a relative who was looking for her, the RCMP said, and police were called shortly afterwards.

Wielgosz said the kidnapping was “violent in nature” and after his escape, the victim was taken to Calgary Children’s Hospital.
“There was force on the young victim to get her into the vehicle, as well as to the residence from where she was finally able to escape,” he said. “We are still determining the nature, extent and extent of her injuries, but she is safe and recovering at this time.”

The RCMP said it was investigating the kidnapping “as a priority” and that it had “specialized support units” assisting in the case.
“We’re dealing with a very young student,” Wielgosz said. “The research is complex (and) involves specialized interviews with a young person.”
On Thursday, Strathmore RCMP released descriptions of the suspects and the suspect vehicle.
The first suspect is described as a well-shaven man with long black hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a black top and a black sweater from York Zoo.
The second suspect is described as a well-shaven man wearing a white shirt and gray pants.
The suspicious vehicle is described as a white four-door truck with a gray interior.
Officers said they were warning the public in the hope that residents would be “very vigilant with their children as a precaution.”
