Street Fighter 6 changed its terrible logo

When Street Fighter 6 first debuted earlier this year, one of the weirdest and most notable things about its otherwise unremarkable trailer was the game’s logo. Which, as I said at the time, was very much like a piece of clip art.

If you missed it, here’s the Street Fighter 6 logo as shown in February on the left, while on the right is a piece of clipart commercially available from Adobe for $ 80.

Considering the long and proud history of the series with ruined logos, it was a big disappointment! I mean, look at these babies!

So it was interesting to see today that when the game reappeared with a new trailer, this cheap logo had been removed and changed to something a little smoother.

It’s not really that different. It maintains the hexagonal shape of the first effort, along with its font, but changes things slightly by making this hexagon a “6”. One that with a good trick can be read in two ways, turning it sideways to reveal it. the Roman numerals “VI”, referring to the fact that all the other sequels in the series up to this point have used this convention (“Street Fighter II”, “Street Fighter IV”, etc.):

Is it a great logo now? No, but it’s not a mess anymore, I think it’s interesting that they’ve gone and changed it so soon, and I thought the flipped thing was neat enough to share! If you want to read more about the great game trailer for today’s game, go here and let Ian, who knows more about Street Fighter than the rest of us together, tell you all the changes, including the introduction of a very strange. open world section that looks a lot like the NBA 2K neighborhood, only without the shoe stores.
