Stroller with a baby lying inside during the robbery: Winnipeg police

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with an incident in which a woman’s bag and car were stolen, and a pram with a child inside was shot down.

The incident took place around 2pm on Friday when a woman was robbed at the entrance of a library in the Sant Joan neighborhood.

According to the Winnipeg Police Department, the woman was with her baby when two unknown men confronted her and grabbed her bag.

Police said the woman was still hanging in the bag, so she ended up being dragged. Officers noted that the pram with the child inside was also knocked over.

The suspects then fled with the bag but returned shortly afterwards with the car keys stolen from the woman.

Police allege that spectators tried to prevent the suspects from stealing the car, but one of the suspects ended up pointing a gun at a spectator. The suspects then left with the stolen car.

Winnipeg police met with the victim, who did not seek medical attention for her or her son.

On Saturday, officers saw the stolen car driving near Salter Street and Powers Street and tried to stop traffic.

When the car slowed down, a person jumped and fled. After a brief chase, police caught the suspect and arrested him.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with various offenses, including armed robbery with a firearm. The second suspect has not been arrested.

None of the charges in this incident have been proven in court.
