Armed police arrested three teenagers after an incident with a knife that sank a city school in a blockade. Officers swarmed the grounds around North Birmingham Academy this morning.

West Midlands police said three people were seen with a knife on Warren Road, Kingstanding. Some then ran to the school grounds on College Road around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 7th.

Students were told to sit on the floor under their desks in classrooms during the police incident, a father told BirminghamLive. Officers arrested three teenagers on suspicion of having a leaf.

No injuries were reported. Police investigations are ongoing.

A police spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: “We were called to report three young men seen with a knife on Warren Road, Kingstanding, Birmingham, shortly before 9.30am today (Tuesday).

“Officers attended and as we searched the area, some of the youths ran to the grounds of North Birmingham Academy on College Road.

“Armed officers entered the compound and three teenagers were arrested on suspicion of having a leaf. They remain in police custody this afternoon. No one has reported any injuries and our investigation is ongoing.”

An E-ACT spokesman, who heads the Academy, said: “After an incident in the community, today the NBA went into blockade in accordance with the academy’s procedures.

“The police were present and the problem was resolved quickly. Thanks to the quick response of our staff in managing the situation, no students were at risk and the normal day resumed quickly with the students returning to school. their classes “.
