Metro service has resumed between the stations of St. George and Pape after an electrical fire forced the TTC to shut down part of Line 2 early Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out at Bloor-Yonge station and service on that stretch was shut down shortly after 7 a.m., police said.
Officials from Toronto Fire Services and the TTC worked to resolve the issue and were able to extinguish the “main body of the fire” by late morning.
A spokesman for the transit authority said additional cleaning and testing was needed before service could fully resume.

Earlier in the day, police said large crowds had formed outside Pape and Broadview stations as shuttle buses transported passengers delayed by the disruption.
“Crowd of people entering traffic,” police added in a tweet.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but the TTC said additional repairs will be made without further service disruptions.
