Bancroft’s OPP is investigating the sudden death of a 23-month-old child.
On June 23, 2022, around 3:45 p.m., officers were called to a parking lot on Monck Road for a child who was located with no vital signs. The boy was taken to hospital by ambulance and was later pronounced dead. The OPP Bancroft Crimes Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services initiated an investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. The OPP’s investigation, along with the Ontario Chief Forensic Office, continues.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
The identity of the deceased is currently being hidden.
