He said in an earlier video that he was denied boarding from his Ryanair flight to Ibiza after incorrectly counting how many months his passport was left.
She then had to drive to try to get an emergency passport, but was turned down, so she could not fly while the rest of her friends left.
Modina explained in her video: “I only booked Ibiza two weeks before leaving by plane.
“My passport expires on August 14th and my holiday was from June 9th to 14th, so when I came back, I would still have three months left in my passport, so I thought.
“Because I was counting June, July and August, but you’re supposed to count July, August, September. So I was a whole month.”
He added that he thought he had a “valid passport” and did not want to try to renew it as he would not return in time due to delays in applying.
Modina continued, “If I had given away my old passport, I would not have been able to fly on those dates, as I knew there were no emergency appointments and I had to do it in the usual way.
“It was annoying, but that’s why I booked it because I thought my passport would be valid when I got back to England.”
The people in the comments also explained how he made the mistake.
One person wrote, “Two months. From June 14 to July 14, 1 month, from July 14 to August 14, 1 month. You don’t count June, July and August.”
Others were less kind: “Yeah, that’s 100% your fault. Taking 5 minutes to think things through would have helped a lot. It doesn’t matter, live and learn well!”
The new rules have been in place since the UK left the EU, although many may not be aware of them due to the pandemic that suspended travel.
Britons must have at least three months in their passport to enter European countries.
It is not just this rule that the British must also check their passport.
The start date, or “date of issue,” is the next thing you need to check in your passport to avoid any last minute chaos.
This is because the new rules no longer allow Britons to have passports they have more than 10 years left.
Previously, UK passport holders could spend up to nine months from their previous documents; these are no longer valid, i.e. the expiration date may not be the actual expiration date.
Instead, you should make sure the start date is 10 years or less when you travel.
In November, a mother was banned from flying after being told her passport was obsolete, even though it was not.
And one woman lost her £ 2,600 dream vacation due to confusion over the expiration dates of her passport.
If you need to renew your passport, you can do so online, at a cost of £ 75.50, or using a paper application form available at the Post Office for £ 85.
