AFL commentator Mark Robinson has criticized Sydney’s personal insults to Richmond’s Trent Cotchin at the court hearing on Wednesday night, with the “Anger instead of Brownlow” joke that sparked more anger. .
Speaking to the AFL360, Robinson said Duncan Miller’s personal attack on Cotchin by Swans’ lawyer was “pathetic” as he banned a Lance Franklin party from hitting him.
Franklin and the swans had argued that he used an open palm to push Cotchin, and it was Cotchin’s arm that caused Franklin’s contact to deviate.

Miller even claimed that the shocking of Cotchin’s head, which occurred after contact with Franklin, was “exaggerated.”
“Trent Cotchin could win an invitation to the Lodges instead of the Brownlow this year,” Miller said.
“The movement is not consistent with the contact. It is exaggerated.
“There’s an ironic smile on Mr. Cotchin’s face.”
But Robinson did not like the statements.
“Trent Cotchin is a three-time prime minister; he’s as tough as they are,” Robinson said.
“That Duncan Miller sits there and says ‘He’s not going to the Brownlow, he’s going to the Lodges,’ I think that’s pretty insulting.

“If he had wanted to act, he might have fallen to the ground.
“I think this is pathetic.
“I think the Swans’ advice on Cotchin was very weak.
“I wonder if Duncan Miller saw Trent Cotchin standing in front of an enraged Lance Franklin minutes later and said, ‘Oh, get up, he’s acting.’
“It got a little hot under my neck, it’s not good.”
Robinson was also not impressed with claims by AFL attorney Andrew Miller that Franklin’s actions were “cowardly.”
“Why are we going?” he argued.
“It simply came to our notice then.
“Argue what you have to argue.”

AFL360 co-presenter Gerard Whateley agreed that this was an unusual court hearing where the player’s character was questioned.
“The swans made a good case, but in the end, it hit him in the chin,” Whateley said.
“They never got over that.”
Sydney was unsuccessful in reducing its ban on a Franklin ban to a fine.
The Swans superstar will now miss this Saturday’s clash with the current Melbourne Prime Ministers.
