Look: Taika Waititi dodges Philip Schofield’s question about Rita Ora
Actor and director Taika Waititi ended an interview with Philip Schofield after this morning’s host asked him about his relationship with Rita Ora.
Appearing on the show alongside Chris Evans to promote Lightyear, Schofield moved to ask the actor and director about his pop star girlfriend.
Towards the end of the interview, Schofield said, “Well, we congratulated Chris on his birthday … so are Taika’s wedding bells?”

Apparently, Schofield was referring to rumors in The Sun that Waititi and Ora are engaged.

Thor’s director: Ragnarok quickly interrupted, “You can congratulate me! It’s August! Let’s talk about my birthday!”
Then Waititi took out his headset and threw it away and said, “What? I’m sorry, you’re breaking! No, he’s gone!”

Schofield replied, “Don’t I ask Rita?” And co-presenter Holly Willoughby commented, “I don’t think she can hear us!”
Throughout the ordeal, Evans continued to laugh as the interview deviated.
Schofield had the last word before the interview ended abruptly: “Anyway, she’s beautiful, we love her here, she’s always a great guest and congratulations!”
Social media quickly took note of the awkward moment and many criticized Schofield’s line of questioning.

One user wrote, “Imagine you end up trying to ask about Rita when they’re promoting a movie, it’s no wonder she’s taken her ear off.”
Another added: “I think Philip Schofield is the most irritating man on television.”
Waititi and Ora are said to have been in a relationship since early 2021, and were made public at last year’s The Suicide Squad premiere, although they have known each other for years.
Ora paid tribute to Waititi earlier this year on Instagram, posting several photos and writing, “We. 4 years ago. So far. Thanks for being great. And entertaining me forever … Happy Valentine’s Day .
Lightyear hits theaters on June 24th.
