Steinbach and Hannover firefighters can be seen fighting a fire on Steinbach’s main street on Sunday afternoon.
Lots of smoke comes out of the building that houses Janzen’s Paint and Decorating, Best West Pet Foods, H&R Block, Investia Financial Services and Steinbach’s Flooring Canada.
The RCMP warns that the smoke could be toxic and asks us to avoid the area.
A westbound main street lane is cut off and water hoses run down the sidewalk. This block of Friesen Avenue is also blocked, as crews are working to extinguish the entire building, as smoke can be seen escaping from all areas.
At the back of the building, a large hose of water passes through Elmdale Street from a hydrant. This stretch of street is cut off and traffic will have to be diverted.
