The next third season of Ted Lasso is being written as if it were his last, Brett Goldstein, who plays the ill-fated Roy Kent and writes for the show, told The Sunday Times (via Variety). “We’re writing it that way,” he said. “It was planned as three. Spoiler alert: everyone dies.” (I bet the last part isn’t true.)
Ted Lasso is arguably Apple TV Plus’ biggest hit, but it’s not clear when it might end. As Variety noted, Ted Lasso co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis has talked about the story that takes place over three seasons. “This three-season arc is what I see, know and understand,” he told Entertainment Weekly. It’s also unclear when this third season will premiere, but it looks like it could come later than the last two seasons, which premiered in August and July, respectively.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment. While you wait for Ted Lasso to return, I would recommend the excellent Severance, although it is a completely different atmosphere. For something a little more cheerful, check out Mythic Quest, which has been renewed for a third and fourth season.
