Texas documents said they would not treat some pregnant women under a new abortion ban

At least three Texas medical centers have advised doctors that they should not treat pregnant women with certain complications because they could violate the state’s abortion ban, according to the Texas Medical Association. The group says a Central Texas hospital told a doctor not to treat an ectopic pregnancy, which is not viable, until it broke. “Delayed or prevented care in this scenario creates a substantial risk to the patient’s future reproductive capacity and poses a serious risk to the patient’s immediate physical well-being,” the association said in a letter to regulators, according to the Dallas Morning News. Two more hospitals tell doctors that if a woman’s water breaks too soon during pregnancy, they should simply send her home to wait for the fetus to come out.
