Trouble, an Atlanta rapper who recorded with Drake, The Weeknd and others, has been shot dead at the age of 34.
The rapper, real name Mariel Semonte Orr, was killed Sunday morning in a home invasion of an apartment in Conyers, an eastern suburb of Atlanta.
A suspect has been named by police as Atlanta resident Jamichael Jones, who is wanted on charges of murder, home invasion and aggravated assault, after Orr was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Jones and Orr did not know each other, but that Jones was involved in a “domestic situation” with a woman Orr was visiting in the apartment.
As a Trouble, Orr released his mixtape debut in 2011, the first in a series of nine mixtape releases interspersed with guest appearances with artists such as Lupe Fiasco and Young Thug. In 2018, famed producer Mike Will Made It signed Orr with his label and produced the entirety of his debut album Edgewood, which features artists such as Drake, the Weeknd, Quavo, Offset and Fetty Wap.
Drake posted a commemorative image of Orr on his Instagram account, while Def Jam Records called Orr “a real voice for his city and an inspiration to the community he proudly represented.” Gucci Mane, Juicy J and TI were among the other rappers who paid tribute to Orr.
