Amazon Prime Day 2022 has entered its second and final day and we’ve put together the best discounted items on the annual shopping holiday on both sides of the Atlantic. Two of the most important items this year are gaming laptops and pre-built desktops, and these are the ones we’ll cover on this page.
For gaming laptops, we will look for models that offer enough performance to take advantage of their screens; it doesn’t make much sense to have a 4K laptop thick enough to run at 1080p. For desktop computers, it is a matter of choosing a balanced system that will be greatly expanded in the future, ideally with a current generation graphics card with image magnification (DLSS / FSR 2.0) and hardware-accelerated RT capabilities.

The best laptop deals for Prime Day games
For gaming laptops, we recommend at least a GTX 1650 graphics card and a recent Core i5 or Ryzen 5 processor for an input machine, with a backup of at least 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage SSD. At higher prices, expect laptops with higher refresh rate displays, more powerful 30x or RX 6000 series RTX graphics cards, and higher RAM and storage add-ons. In general, there is a trade-off between portability and power, with thicker designs that allow for more sustained performance than thin, lightweight options.

The best PC deals for pre-built Prime Day games
Prebuilt gaming desktops require a bit of verification, as it’s common for many vendors to skimp on harder-to-detect specifications, such as motherboards, RAM speeds, power supply certifications, or processor overclocking. Ideally, we will see a modern platform that allows for one of the latest Intel or AMD processors and fast graphics cards, with a reasonable amount of RAM and storage. Fortunately, both RAM and storage are easy to upgrade, so the CPU and GPU are the most critical components to check.
