A major update has just been released on WhatsApp and is one of the largest that the Meta-owned company has ever released. This huge change affects the number of people you can now add to a group chat with WhatsApp by doubling the usual amount.
This means that users can now include 512 contacts when creating a group chat instead of the previous 256. According to the messaging service team, this boost has been added due to comments from fans of the popular app.
To check if your WhatsApp has been updated, just start a new group chat and then check the “Add participants” settings at the top of the screen. If you see 0/512, you know you have an updated version of the app. If you still see 256 attendees, make sure you’ve updated WhatsApp through the Android and Apple app stores; It’s also worth noting that the chat company is slowly implementing this update worldwide, so some users may get it sooner than others.
Along with this group chat update, WhatsApp also recently added two more features to its platform, including the ability to send larger files.
Until recently, users could only attach 100MB size files, but now they have grown to 2GB more generous.
This means that it will now be much easier to send large videos and files over the WhatsApp network.
Explaining further, WhatsApp said: “You can now send files within WhatsApp up to 2 GB in size at a time, protected by end-to-end encryption. This is an increase of the previous limit of 100 MB and we think it will be useful for collaboration. “
Finally, WhatsApp has now added reactions. This change is almost identical to other chat services, such as Apple’s iMessage, with users now being able to quickly overlay emojis on each chat bubble.
This means that you can add a quick message or a love heart to a message instead of writing a reply.
“We are delighted to share that emoji reactions are now available in the latest version of the app,” the company added. “Reactions are fun, fast and also reduce group overload. We will continue to improve them by adding an even wider range of expressions in the future.
To add a reaction, just tap and hold a message. Below you will see six reactions that appear on the screen, such as a thumbs up, a love heart, a laughing face, a surprised face, a sad face, and predatory hands.
Tap the correct chat reaction and it will appear in the message.
If you want to change or delete the emoji, just tap and hold the same message again, then make your changes.
