TORONTO – Left-handed pitcher Foster Griffin was acquired Saturday by the Toronto Blue Jays in a trade with the Kansas City Royals.
The Blue Jays sent right-back Jonatan Bernal to Kansas City in return.
Toronto opted for Griffin in its triple A subsidiary in Buffalo, New York
Right-handed pitcher Sergio Romo was designated for the assignment and right-handed pitcher Jeremy Beasley was retired from Buffalo.
Beasley was active for Saturday morning against the Royals at Rogers Center.
The 26-year-old Griffin has an average of 12.46 career wins this season in 4 1/3 innings thrown for the Royals.
