The Vancouver Canucks have signed former Toronto Maple Leafs striker Ilya Mikheyev for a four-year deal with an average annual value of $ 4.75 million.
The Canucks announced the contract via Twitter and Mikheyev’s agent Dan Milstein, who also represents Andrey Kuzmenko and Danila Klimovich, announced the AAV shortly after.

“Ilya will bring a lot of value to our six media,” said GM Patrik Allvin. “His versatility and ability to do so many different things will be a big boost for our group. Solid at both ends of the ice, Ilya’s speed is a real difference. Not only does it kill penalties, but it can also create offensively. “

“He’s fast as hell, he has a fleeting movement that works, but he loves to shoot at the goalkeeper’s chest,” a Leafs media member told CanucksArmy. “He could be able to make a career as a second average player instead of a third, who has played primarily as a Toronto.”
However, this is only one person’s opinion, as the analytical community seems to really value Mikheyev’s game.

What we do know is that Mikheyev brings a solid two-way game and can serve as a penalty specialist. The signing of Curtis Lazar and now Mikheyev reinforces the Canucks penalty for next season.

Mikheyev scored a maximum of 21 goals and 32 points in 53 games played last season with the Leafs.
