Two housemates are being treated for stab wounds after an incident at a house in Devonport, in Tasmania’s north-west.
Police and ambulances were called to a house in George Street in the early hours of this morning after reports that two people had been seriously injured.
Police said the men, a 22-year-old and a 25-year-old, were housemates and both had stab wounds.

The 22-year-old was taken to Launceston General Hospital in a serious condition, and the other is in Royal Hobart Hospital.
“We believe the incident took place at a house, and one of them ran from one of the houses and went across the road for help,” said Detective Inspector Kim Steven.

Police described the incident as isolated and said there was no threat to the public.
A police drone was used above both crime scenes and detectives went door-to-door to gather information from residents.

Police closed off part of George Street near Woniora Street and the public was asked to avoid the area.
A specialist forensics team from Hobart has arrived at the scene.
