A community came together to support each other after a large fire destroyed a house in Huyton.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service rushed to Shellingford Road on Tuesday morning following reports of a house fire around 8:20 p.m. Five firefighters arrived at the scene eight minutes later and an aircraft, as well as Merseyside police officers.
It was a heartbreaking morning for the community as residents were urged to evacuate their homes while emergency services handled the incident. Neighbors were urged to keep doors and windows closed and to keep medicines close to existing conditions.

A resident told ECHO that he first noticed the fire when he saw smoke outside his home. He called the fire department and ran to his back garden. He added that he heard people shouting “go out” while watching people “run” from the fire.
Neighbors described how there was a “strong smell of smoke” that was described as “undulating” when firefighters arrived, and that could still be smelled a few hours later. Images taken by ECHO show the devastating damage to the house destroyed by the fire, as one woman said, “It’s scary to think that everything you have could disappear in a whisper.”

As the locals were unable to return home until security checks had been carried out, the community came together to support each other. Some neighbors were left crying after the fire, while many were quickly exhausted from checking their homes to find unwanted clothing and items to help the devastated family.
One person said, “It’s horrible, this poor family.” Firefighters arrived on Tuesday to find a well-lit two-story townhouse, but all residents were out of the property upon arrival, with no injuries reported. Firefighters have since confirmed that the middle seat of the fire has been extinguished around 9:30 p.m.
A spokesman added: “Firefighters have continued to check for hot spots, with the fire completely extinguished at around 10.40am. Firefighters have carried out fire safety checks at homes on neighboring farms. The cause is being investigated. fire “.
ECHO heard from area residents that they heard “commotion” during Tuesday morning, and some heard “crying as children” because there was “a lot of panic.”
A woman living on a nearby street said she heard “a lot of noise and screaming voices” around 8 a.m. this morning, but she didn’t know what it was. He said it was “very lucky” that the fire had started when it was there and that it had not destroyed other outbuildings.
He said it was “devastating” to see the damage and was “absolutely terrifying” as it was “shaking”. The woman told ECHO that the fire appeared to have spread “so fast” and that “the destruction was so sad.”
Firefighters remained at the scene, along with Merseyside police officers, when an investigation into the case began.
