The family stumbles upon a cache of firearms while paddling in the pond

Ryan explains: “We were on River View Walk where we regularly walk with our children, and my children were playing with a 15-year-old boy, James, when what appeared to be a magazine from a gun slipped through.

“Then he started looking in the water, and one by one, he started pulling out everything you see in the pictures.”

Ryan was at the local venue with his three children, aged eleven, five and one.

And he adds: “I then contacted the police, who came and recovered the weapons and will continue to sweep the river.”

Callum Jones, spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Service, said: “Police were called to Winsford Road, SE6, at 4.49pm on Saturday August 6 to reports of firearms found in a river. The agents attended.

“A firearm and ammunition was recovered and removed from the scene.”
