The first game trailer for Street Fighter 6 brings things to the open world

Capcom made a major appearance for the game’s status this morning, and one of its key announcements was the game’s first revelation for Street Figher 6.

While we already knew that Ryu and Luke would be present in the game based on the teaser trailer released in February, the trailer also revealed a new character named Jamie, as well as the faithful from the Chun-Li series. Jamie seeks to use a drunken fighting style that I think had never been done before in a Street Fighter game.

We don’t know much about how the new fighting mechanics work, but it seems to fuse some sort of Street Fighter 4 focus attack with the style and flow of Street Fighter 5. As always, it’s hard to judge until you have the opportunity to play physically, but it seems a step forward and a situation of the best of both worlds.

While not fully detailed, it also looks like there will be an adventure mode or a player in which your character will take to the streets (literally) to explore and fight other fighters. It is a single player mode called World Tour.

The game will also feature a new comment system that will somehow dynamically adjust the comments of a set of commentators to give each match the feel of eSports. There’s been a bit of a raid with announcers in recent games, though nothing as thorough as this one. While this feature isn’t personal to me, I can see the appeal, but I hope to be able to reduce it.

Street Fighter 6 will be released in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S. It looks like Xbox One will skip this time.

Capcom has promised deep dives into the latest fashions, so stay tuned for the latest developments in the future. Of course, we’ll keep you posted.
