Montblanc could be the first manufacturer outside of Samsung to launch a smartwatch with Wear OS 3, the latest version of Google’s wrist operating system. Wear OS 3 is the most important update to Google’s smartwatch operating system in years, but is currently only available on a couple of Samsung smartphones: the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, which are they launched last year. There are more Wear OS 3 watches on the way, but it’s unclear when exactly they will arrive. Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch will run the software, as will future Fitbit premium devices. Updates to Mobvoi and Fossil’s existing Wear OS 2 smart watches are also underway later this year. A recent tweet from Fossil’s support account suggested that Wear OS 3 could reach its clocks in June or July, but the tweet was later deleted and Fossil has yet to make an official announcement.
Montblanc Summit 3 includes a typical set of smartwatch features. There is support for step tracking, sleep monitoring, blood oxygen measurement and training monitoring. Google Maps provides directions, Google Pay offers payments, and Google Play is available to download additional applications. The watch runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100 Plus processor.
With each Summit 3 smart watch you have two straps: one leather and one rubber.
