The future of Red Dead Redemption 2’s online mode, Red Dead Online, has been tackled by Rockstar Games after a long period of time full of confusion, fan doubts and frustration. Red Dead Online has not received much significant content in the last year or two, which has filled many fans of the game with sadness. It’s a much more role-playing version of GTA Online within the world of Red Dead and many fans saw a lot of potential in it. Since its GTA counterpart has received many years of updates with things like thefts, nightclubs and more, many believe Red Dead Online has been neglected. This resulted in an online campaign called “Save Red Dead Online,” and unfortunately it doesn’t seem to get the great performance some fans expect.
In a press release, Rockstar Games addressed the future of Red Dead Online stating that in recent years it has been “constantly moving more development resources to the upcoming entry of the Grand Theft Auto series,” which has led to changes in the way Red Dead Online has support. The game will still receive changes and improvements, but these will be the focus instead of “offering major thematic content updates” that the game has seen in previous years. Whatever the case, Rockstar claims it will build on existing content on Red Dead Online, but it doesn’t look like there’s anything as big as the thefts in the future.
“Along with seasonal special events and experience enhancements, as well as other changes to improve and maintain a healthy Red Dead Online environment, we plan to build on existing modes and add new Telegram missions this year. year, rather than delivering major thematic content updates like previous years, and we will continue to highlight and share the creative efforts of our Red Dead community at every opportunity through Newswire and beyond. “
As of now, Rockstar Games is on its knees in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game and will likely be in the foreseeable future. While there is new content on the way for GTA Online, it is a much larger and more popular game that has only been further supported with recent versions of Xbox Series X and PS5. It remains to be seen if Red Dead Online will return in a magnificent way one day.
