EL MONTE, California – A gunman who killed two El Monte police officers committed suicide, a coroner’s report said Saturday.
Justin Flores, 35, died of a gunshot wound to the head and the form of death was suicide, according to online records from the Los Angeles County Forensic Department.
Flores was killed on the sidewalk of a motel on Tuesday after he shot and killed 31-year-old El Monte Joseph Santana police officer. Michael Paredes, 42 years old.
Forensic records also show that Santana died of a gunshot wound to the head and Paredes died of gunshot wounds to the head.
Officers were sent to the motel to investigate a complaint that a woman had possibly been stabbed.

Sheriff’s homicide Captain Andrew Meyer said officers confronted the suspect and fired shots inside the motel room. The gunman ran out and there were more shots with other officers.
Flores was on parole for a firearm charge at the time of the shooting, which came a day after his parole officer asked him to return to court at the end of the month, according to court records.
A public candlelight vigil was held on Saturday evening for the murdered officers on the front steps of the El Monte Civic Center.
