2023 Honda Civic Type R
Honda has a new hero.
The 2023 Honda Civic Type R has finally been revealed after months of teasing, showing a more sophisticated look than its predecessor. However, only limited technical details of the new hot hatch have been released, and its performance figures are kept secret until close to its arrival in showrooms.
The car was introduced online worldwide, but Indycar ace Colton Herta was selected to assist in a live revelation of the new model in Los Angeles.
The company has confirmed that it runs on a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that has been created exclusively for this car. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and remains front-wheel drive.

What Honda has shown is a cleaner, sleeker look than the outgoing model, which was praised for its driving dynamics but featured a polarizing look. According to Honda, the designers “strived to create a style for both overwhelming speed and beauty.”
It has pumped protections, a unique front and a large rear wing. Inside the cabin are red seats and rugs to continue the R-type tradition.
The new Type R will go on sale in Japan in September, so wait for all the technical details to be revealed before then. Australians will have to wait until “early 2023” for the new model to arrive locally.
